Ok....all things checked out....pros and cons weighed......I'm going with a Scat Pack. Love the Shaker, but no idea when it can be ordered.

My thought was to contact the dealer to order a new Scat Pack with the leather interior package, uconnect NAV upgrade, and a sunroof. Dodge website says its $42380. I'm going to ask $21000 for my '11 R/T Classic (31000 miles) and giving them $17000 in cash.

Is that a good starting point or am I really lowballing them?


....and yes......i'm starting to get a bit antsy, which is why i'm not going to the dealership quite yet......never let them see you antsy.

Depends upon what you have in your 2011, but your numbers may be close
Trade-in value for your Challenger in OKC is about $22k, unless you have that sucker optioned out. Then it could be worth up to $24K

Getting the dealer to sell you an immensely popular model like the Scat Pack for nearly 9% off sticker will be the real trick. Check the available rebates and consider having the remainder financed by Chrysler if they are offering a rebate for that as well. Rebates, if available, might only get you to $3000 off sticker. Maybe you can wrangle some back office concessions like a few free oil changes. Good luck!

One more thing

You plan to order a scat pack as opposed to buying one off the lot. There is a lot less flexibility on the pricing when you custom order. Have you thought of using truecar.com to see if a Scat Pack matching your order list might be available and already sitting on a dealer's lot nearby? You might do better on the negotiations if one is available.

Yeah....mine is optioned out, so the $24k is accurate.

Sadly....there are hardly any Scat Packs around here. Had to drive to a dealer 50 miles away just to see one with 6spd and sun roof. Sadly, it was white. Otherwise I'd probably have a new car in the garage. It seems the only thing around here is the obligatory Hellcat and a butt-load of SXTs. Anything in between has auto transmissions.

I'll check out Truecar. Just not happy about giving my phone number.

But if the deal's gets you where you want to be on price, then driving a hundred miles or two won't be too much of a chore. Plus, you get to drive back in a Scat Pack across some of the flattest and straightest roadways in the country. Do I hear the sound of WOT across the plains?

Nobody ever said you have to give your real phone number...LOL Just use a fake number.

I will tell you though, some if not all dealers have a system where they can type in your email address and it will tell them your phone number and address. When a dealer in Maryland showed me that; it shocked me the information they knew. He said it pulls from other systems, like when you order a pizza online and use your email address.

stretch0069 If it makes any difference to you, I called Dodge customer service on Friday of this week and I was told the order books would open sometime in April for 2015 shaker scat pack. I factory ordered a 2014 shaker which I took possession of in April last year. I traded in my 2010 RT (with 40K mi) and dealer gave me 21k for the trade-in. I was majorly PO'ed when I found out about the 2015 scat pack option which includes the 6.4 L hemi. Thinking about trading in the 2014 shaker for the 2015 scat pack shaker when it comes available. I know ........... I will get clobber on the trade-in but the mind wants what the mind wants

I think you are undervaluing your 2011 Challenger. If it is in great condition, and 31k is not too bad for mileage, you should get at least $23,000 or more for it. I got $22,000 for my 2009 R/T on a trade-in and it had 24k miles on it.

So...Oklahoma doesn't charge sales tax on vehicles. But they charge an excise tax.....on the purchase price of the car, not including trade-ins. So.....I am taxed on the full price of the car, but I only pay 3.25% excise tax instead of 8.5% sales tax.

now if they would just get the Shaker hood thing figured out......

Asking 21k is too low. Don't use that as the trade-in amount.

Don't know exactly what you paid but here in AZ dealers getting sticker for SP's. Lucky if they stay on the lot more than a few days. I had to order mine yesterday.

I think you'll have more flexibility on negotiating with a car that's already on a lot vs ordering one. If you do order one, then you have to be tough on your trade-in value so you don't get hosed there.

The dealership initially offered me a trade-in value $3K lower than what KBB.com said. I got them up another $2500 and was happy with that. I was able to get mine for 12% off sticker but it was due to it being a demo car and having 2500 miles on it already. It was the only 8spd auto Sublime Green Scat Pack in the area (in a 500 mile radius actually) so I jumped on it.

Expand your search and see if you can find some on the lot somewhere, probably have better luck getting a better deal on one of those vs ordering. But then again, ordering one would be pretty sweet as well. I'm definitely doing that one day before I kick the bucket!

Good luck, I'm sure you'll find the right car soon! Stay tough on your trade-in too. I had to get up and start walking to the door a couple times before they got with the program on making a real deal.

drove 50 to get mine not sure the rules on mentioning dealerships but these guys have plenty on the lot 2015 & 2016 R/T , R/T Shakers scat pack .scat pack shakers ,few SRT, and that's a hellcat in front 2015 used 1000 miles

There is this one sitting in Rapid City, SD, 6-speed, no shaker, in plum crazy. Also got a pic of some of the window sticker.
