So Monday I had new tires put on... Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's... Not as soft as the original F1s or Pirelli's I have run... They seem to handle pretty well as I have gone out to try them on for size.. I did go with a slightly larger 255/45/20 tire all the way around. The most noticeable trait was in the rain today - no wheel hop (at all) when I broke them loose (on purpose). The Pirelli's did nothing but hop in the wet... These are so much better in that respect. I have the Hop not I kit... In the dry, they seem to be pretty decent, no hop on the street in dry conditions. I will report more feedback on these tires after my track time (hopefully this weekend)... But so far spending only 138$ bucks a tire, they are really impressive... Stay tuned...

Cool man, sounds like a nice set of tires there. I went with Firestones this time as well. Got the Firestone Firehawk GT's all around, but stock size of 245/45/R20's. They are leaps and bounds better than my old Goodyear RSA's, especially in the rain. They've been doing well in the snow also so far this winter.

Keep us posted!

I hated those RSA's!! The best tire I had on my RT was Hankooks.
I'm digging these Pirelli tires so far, but I only have 5k miles on them.
Time will tell...

Thanks, had a track day today... the tires did very well, I think out of ten runs I only had one with wheel hop.. on the shift to 2nd. They handled way better than the F1's or PZeros.... on the track - the others were softer and did a slight bit better on the street... I am very happy with my selection so far!

Thank you for posting this review. I have been toying back and forth to go with Nitto NT555 or the Firestones Firehawk Indy 500. I originally wanted to go with the Firehawks but heard from the shop that these were not a great tire and Nittos were a much better choice. Obviously the price difference has made me hesitant. What I do like about the Firehawks is the size availability. I can put on 245/45r20s in the front and 275/40r20s in the rear or 255/45r20s all the way around. With the Nitto tires if I wanted to go with 275/40r20s I would have to jump into the NT555Rs which I heard have a tire life of 5k-7k. I was looking for more of a balance. I currently have the Firehawk GT 245/45R20s on my car now. I haven't been able to get them to hook consistently on the track, but on the street they are good tire. But I'm glad to see a good review on the Indy 500s.

Glad I could help... a couple of factors played in my decision to buy these tires... I wanted a little larger tire, and these were only 138$ a piece on Tirerack.. The tread rating is 320 versus 220 for the F1's and Pirellis... so I don't know how many miles I will get out of them, but it should be more than the 14K I got out of the others... I drive fairly aggressive so maybe these will last closer 20K lol.... I have had them up to 151 mph and they were very smooth, only a hint of road noise... At this point I would buy them again...

I think the Firestones should last between 30,000-40,000 miles? That's what my Firehawk GT's are rated for anyway.

I only got 13,000 miles out of my Goodyear F1's and they were bald. I got about 36,000 miles out of my Goodyear RSA's but those tires weren't that great, especially in the rain.

Second set of new tires

Hi folks, i had Goodyear Eagle Sport All Seasons 245 45 R 20 installed this past summer to replace the Goodyear Eagle RSAs 245 45 R 20, well the old tire was 9 and 7/8'' width and the new Eagle Sports were only 7 and 3/4'' wide, car handled like crap, contacted Goodyear and after many many disscussions they refunded me, seems as if the tires were stamped incorrect. I purchased Cooper Zeon RS3-A, they are 9 and 3/4'' wide with great reviews and great looks, its to bad the car is in storage lol
