Got home today and a recall notice from Dodge was in the mail.. thought it would be on my truck since there is one out on it (cummins engine model only) Opened the envelope and nope its on my new SRT...they state the car needs to be returned to dealer for them to put new software in my computer dealing with the computer checking for any burnt out warning bulbs when the car is first started. Letter states it will take 1 1/2 hour to reload the computer.

I didn't even know the system did that check. Of course I'm from the time when it was the driver's responsibility to check the warning lights on startup.:eek:ld:

Your gauge cluster gets flashed with new software and it actually does take over an hour to do. I've already had to do some at work on stock unit challengers and on the cherokee's.

I found this article on autoevolution.com.................

Just about every variant of the 2015 Challenger, including the 707 horsepower SRT Hellcat brute, have an instrument cluster governing software that may cause the panel to go into a “reset” condition, followed by a failure to perform the bulb check on safety warning lamps during the vehicle’s start-up.

Therefore, the affected population of cars fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 101 – “Controls and Displays”. FCA US LLC is telling us that NHTSA recall 14V-749 comprises of 11,668 vehicles located in the United States and 6 in US territories, all of them made from June through October 8th.

The cause for this minor digital gremlin comes in the form of an undersized microprocessor circuit trace, which may experience an overload condition at a key on cycle. Fiat-Chrysler also announces that a 3 staged start-up strategy was implemented to avoid a circuit overload condition for 2015 Dodge Challengers built from October 8th, 2014 onwards.

A more detailed description of this update is that the software robustness enhancement revises the cluster MPS start-up strategy, breaking up the cluster start-up into 3 stages to reduce the initial current draw. The recall is already in effect, but if you’re one of those owners that didn’t get a letter from FCA yet, do contact your nearest dealership or the brand’s customer service at 1-800-853-1403.

So......I guess I'm OK with mine built on November 11, 2014.
