So, I have the factory remote start and have been using it often. Not really to cool/warm the interior to but warm up the engine.
I'm old school but is that even a point in doing that with this engine?
Should I just get in it and drive?
I ask this cause I'm usually always in sport mode and pedal to the metal lol...

I have read and heard that modern engines are engineered to be driven from a cold start, but habits formed in the late 70's still dictate many of my driving habits. I have always allowed my cars to warm up before putting them into gear, including my daily driver beater.

I let mine warm up for a few minutes when it's cold and then drive it easy for the first 5-10 minutes. Once the engine is up to operating temp then I let it rip.

If it's warmer out then you probably don't really need to let it warm up much at all. I still think taking it easy for the first 5 minutes or so of driving is helpful. Let's the engine get up to operating temp or very close before beating on it.

I went to test drive a 2015 Scat Pack last week. It was 19 degrees out. I got in, started it and sat for a minute. The salesman asked "what ya waiting for?" I told him it was cold and I wanted the engine to warm up a bit. He just laughed and replied "old school huh?"

I don't go above 2500 rpm until it is has been running for a few minutes or when it is cold out like a lot have said. I starting doing this when I had a diesel truck that I had tuned and was pulling a lot of horse powers (450 rwhp) and torques (750 rwtq) and didn't want to blow something up.

If it's very cold say 20 degrees or below I let my car idle for a minute or so, but other than that according to the experts your wasting gas, now if I'm making a short trip where my car won't get to operating temp I may let it warm up a little more because I think them short trips are hard on a car.

If your worried about the engine then start it and drive easy, it warms quicker when driving than idling and the quicker it gets warm the less the engine will wear, rings wear much more quickly when cold.

If I could swing it financially (which I can't right now) I totally would be buying a Scat Pack. I just really wanted to see what the 2015's felt like. So for now, I'm keeping my R/T.

I always baby any car in cold weather till it warms up...I can't see what difference is makes whether it's a modern engine or not ... it is still a mechanical device , and besides what can it hurt to let it warm up a minute or two? I'd rather waste a little gas $$$ than blowing something that will cost big $$$.
