Hi all,

I wrote on another post that the satin hood isn't available to order.

It was annoying me, as we haven't been told anything, it just vanished from the configurator.

I sent a query through to Chrysler and they came back telling me that it is delayed until further notice.

They cant offer me any more info than that, I thought I'd share it with you all.

I was told it wouldn't be offered until spring, which got me wondering if they were going to delay it as an option until next years model comes out. There are a few other options and distinguishing factors that I've seen from the demo models which had me wondering... Such as the "Supercharged" badges on demos where the Hellcat badge is currently. Also, sunroofs and wheel options/color to name a few details that have been different from what I've seen on my cat and vs youtube videos of reveals and reviews.

Well I managed to get a little more "unofficial" information on this, from a reliable source.

I was told this afternoon that this option would not be available until Q2 next year!!

I'd be interested to know how many of you who ordered in September with the satin hood are still in BX status, and also from those who are in D1 status or have had one delivered.

Truth be known, the vendor that does the satin black hood is in financial trouble. Rumor has it that they're going through a "reorganization", which means bankruptcy. These things can take some time as assets or contracts are directly affected by "protection".
The 2008 and on SRT8 Challengers that received the "carbon fiber stripes" on the hood/nose were applied at Ground Effects - across the street from the Brampton facility. Some folks were under the impression that those stripes were applied at the assembly plant - they were not.

Hope that explains the delay with the black satin hoods.

Official word from Chrysler

Hi all,

so I recieved some definitive info back from Chrysler.

"Andy - Here's a little more info on the brand: The optional satin black hood feature on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is not currently available for production. Customers who placed orders can opt to change their order to a body-color hood. If a customer decides to keep this option, his/her order will be held until the satin black hood becomes available (date TBA)".

So there you have it. At least there is an answer for the delays with the Hellcats with the satin hood.

After following Susie's horror story with painting a satin hood, I'd opt for a wrap instead of paint! That way you can put it back to stock real easy if you ever felt the need.......

Unless they changed something all the stock Challenger hoods have been aluminum since the start.
Correct!
That's one of the (main) reasons you don't see very many photoshoots with models on the hood of the Challenger......

Even my 2001 Intrepid had an aluminum hood.

Well, glad I dropped the Satin hood option when I changed colors. Don't think the Jazz Blue would look as good as the Sublime with a black hood.

I think Jazz Blue might be my new favorite color on a Hellcat, especially after seeing it in person.
