I have been having discussions the last two days with two different dealers on buying a new 2023 Scat Pack in Plum Crazy. Wasn't going to share this until I actually got the car, but I thought it would be good to share this now, get your opinions, ideas and also maybe help a few of you who are interested in getting a new one.

My choice of dealer was taken away as my dealer in Rapid City, SD was only allowed ONE new Scat Pack. It was purchased last week. This was before I realized that there would be NO other allotments on the 2023's. Dodge has totally lost their mind at how they handled the new 2023's. But that is discussion for another thread.

Yesterday and this morning I searched on the Dodge website for dealers in my area that I could buy a new Scat from. Two dealers that are about 200 miles away each had 2 Scat Packs available to order. The first one in Kearney, NE wanted $5,000 over the MSP. They also require the $5,000 up front!

The second dealer in Grand Island, NE was MUCH better to deal with. While they want $3,000 over the MSP, they only require a $1,000 deposit. I have the funds for this car. So I am willing to put up the extra $3,000 to get my last challenger in Plum Crazy. I wanted that color in 2020, but as luck would have it, they discontinued it!
I am not getting the dynamics package this time, so that helps, but the price of these cars is up considerably since 2020. The price now is $54,605, without the markup.
My current 2020 Scat cost $47,964, then $4,850 was taken off in that incentive they had going on. My trade in on the old 2016 Scat was $28,000. It didn't have the dynamics pkg. and had about 38,000 miles.
They are saying my trade in value for the 2020 Scat will be somewhere between $36,447 to $38,825. So I consider this about as good as I will get. Then I can quit thinking about it!!
Please feel free to give me opinions and disagreements! This post is to help others and me!!!

Thanks for reading!

Well, I am a little plum crazy! So you are saying that because of the prices? I agree with you, but the heart wants what the heart wants. I am 72, not going to ever be able to buy another one, don't want mechanical issues at my age. In about 2 years I will probably buy a truck to use for daily driving to conserve miles on the challenger. At my age, I don't worry about having money to live on in the nursing home! LOL!

Yes, prices and availability.....I did that when I got my Redeye...didn't need it, but wanted it......and I knew this cancer would take me from this planet before I ever got close to retiring, so I got it now to enjoy it for a little while at least.....

and man, is it fun.......

Betty - get what you want, the way you want it and don't look back.
I would try to get more for your trade in if you can. But go for it.

Buy what YOU want. Enjoy it as much, if not MORE than the ones you've had already! Keep it forever.

As your financial advisor, I would say NO! Absolutely not! It’s a bad deal, the car you have is nice, but the plan to get a beater truck might be a good one. Don’t try to justify by saying your worried your current challenger will have mechanical problems. My bet would be the truck won’t be a beater either.

As a car lover, I’d say go for it, a last year Challenger in Plum Crazy is a must have. Heck if Gary can afford the big JD tractor and a shed big enough to park a 747 in, its just natural for you to have something nice. ;)

I just ordered a 2023 Scat Pack Shaker in PCP from Steve White Motors in Newton NC they charged me window sticker and no additional fees but Tax and tags. They were a pleasure to deal with my salesman Jamie Smith told me they are not charging over MSRP on anything regardless of how rare. You can go online to Carvana and get a free no obligation value on your current car they are paying ridiculously strong prices for cars. Good Luck in your decision and remember you only live once!

Your answer is funny and sensible all at the same time. Because I missed out on Plum Crazy on my last one, I learned that lesson about getting what you want. I certainly realize that Dodge is sort of ripping us off! But I am 72, not going to wait anymore for this.... It sure has been a great 10 years of challenger ownership, guess I'll go out with a bang, just call me plum crazy!

Betty, don't hesitate, you may miss the chance of a lifetime. PCP? Are you kidding, my dream color! And it's back! As you said, you have the funds. In the rear view mirror, 3K doesn't move the needle. Jump on it and enjoy having the last of the last.! I cannot over state how quickly you need to move on this. There are others out there just like you and the window will slam without warning.
Best of luck! Rick. ;)

Wouldn’t hurt to contact large dealers in Minneapolis and Chicago area.
You can order from any dealer online can't you? I bought mine from a dealer in Jacksonville over the phone and they drove it up to me in middle Ga.
Those options just aren't possible for me. Too far, don't want to trust anyone that far away. Grand Island, NE is far enough! LOL.

Btw, I looked at available Scats in the area. Billings, MT has 15 of them! Now that is crazy! Its Montana!! And Bismarck, ND has 3! It is much smaller than Rapid City! Why only ONE in Rapid City? Someone said it might be based only on their previous sales.

Tomorrow, I am going to tell them I decided to buy it, but I want them to take a $1,000 off tacking on the $3,000. Stay tuned!
