Got a letter from sirius saying they would be turning on my radio ( even had my radio ID on the letter) from second week thru end of February free, just complimentary for being a past customer... well I almost fell for it, as it was not turned on so like a idiot I called and all it was , was a sales pitch and no they would not turn it on until I paid to renew So watch out for this ploy...

I always let my subscription lapse, then they want me to renew. I say no. Then they send some letters in the mail. After a couple weeks the offers get really good and then I renew and ask to waive the reactivation fee. I can usually get it for about $85-90 for the year that way vs the regular $150-170 they charge for a year.

You just have to make sure you write down when you renew so you can remember to call up a few days before that day a year later and tell them to cancel your subscription, because some of the offers will automatically renew at the regular rate. That's how they get most people who aren't too organized with things.

Even $85 a year is kind of pricey but if you drive the car a lot and have a decent commute it is nice to have all those extra stations to listen to so it's worth it to me.

I wondered if you could get them to let you have satellite for say a 6 month period every year and then have it turned off the rest of the year. It would be good for people who store their cars, and also for my husband whose new tractor just arrived. He runs the tractor from sometime in late April to October. That would be a nice feature. Why am I getting free satellite, and also it is turned on in my father-in-law's truck that hasn't been driven in two years (and also never paid for any satellite service)? Someone on another thread said they are having a free trial period now. Is this what is going on???

I have free satellite right now Betty. Every now and then it gets turned on for two weeks and then back off. I only find out if I check it because they never notify me of this. I have never renewed since I only listen to 6 channels when I do.

I will never pay for non-terrestrial radio especially with the sound quality it provides. I don't even use the free year as the music is so compressed it sounds like total garbage.

I'm with you on this. When it is on, there are only about six channels that I like. I noticed in this free trial that a lot of the channels aren't available.

thats's usually what happens...only limited number of channels. I'm the same as you and Tom, when I did have it , only listened to a few channels and it was usually when I was in an area where I didn't get regular radio reception ( the mountains). Who knows how many "free trails" I've missed, never checked to see:4-dontknow:.

They must not like me, even the free 2 week thing they advertised on TV a couple months ago , they never turned my radio on, but I have about 400 songs on a usb stick, hit the random button and good to go.

Yes, I agree, an iPod or usb stick is so much more convenient, and you get to choose what and when to listen!

Yep, remember back when XM and sirius first came out , it was the thing to have, just about everyone I knew had it, but then the merger and then they started with the price increases and people started dropping like flies. With all the ways to stream music now, I think they are an endangered species unless they drastically drop prices.

I just use these coupons. You can find coupon discounts on just about anything. http://www.retailmenot.com/view/shop.siriusxm.com
