Yes I know I said in a previous post that I wasn't going to put a cold air intake in my challenger because they are a waste of money and there are no actual power gains (and I still believe that), but...I had one my 2012 R/T RAM and I loved how it made it sound, so since I don't plan on doing exhaust for a while this will hold me over. I refuse to pay $450 for a mopar one and I can't stand oiled filters (*cough*k&n*cough).

I've been searching around and for $221, which is still overpriced, I can get this airaid deal:

http://www.amazon.com/Airaid-351-21...automotive&vehicleId=2&vehicleType=automotive

It seems like a pretty legit intake, it only replaces the air box and re-uses the already big enough intake tube, AND its a dry filter which I really like. I can't really see any problems with this kit. Does anyone have one of these? Or has anyone heard of any stories where the filter comes apart and get sucked into the engine causing massive and horrific engine failure?

The kit says it only goes up to 2014 but as far as I can tell the 2015 air box is exactly the same as the 2014, they probably just haven't updated the info yet.

I can't speak to that particular model, but Airaid has a solid overall reputation. For $98 off and free shipping, it looks like a great deal for you. I have also been considering a CAI, particularly an LMI Air Hammer. And I also have a catch-can that's been collecting dust while I have procrastinated on the CAI purchase, so finally getting one will be a 2x plus!

You'll be fine. I found an LMI Frankentake IV on Craiglist for $150 that I picked up a few weeks ago. Works great, sounds good, and better throttle response now as well.

$450 is really steep for a CAI. $200 or less is much better. If it looks good and you like it I'd go for it.

You should look into getting a catch can as well. Catches most of the liquid oil that would pass through your PCV system and go through your intake. Catches the liquid oil and just allows the vapors to pass through. Not a necessity, but it does keep things a little cleaner. Lots of threads on here and other sites to research if you're interested in it.

OMG thank you for posting that picture!! You wouldn't believe how hard it is to actually find a picture of that thing installed. All the pictures out there are at weird angles, I really wanted to see how the breather hose hooks up. Thank you again.

I like it so its order time.

Way ahead of you:

I installed a catch can with the z bracket, charger intake tube, and 6.4L style covers right after christmas (although I do want to change that upper pcv hose with something nicer). I had one on my RAM and it was amazing how much oil that thing caught. I've taken apart my fair share of hemi's and all other chrysler engine and its crazy to see how much oil and crud sits in the upper intake without a catch can. That can't be good for anything.

Well I got the airaid dry filter kit and put it in:

Stock:

The Airaid Kit:

All Installed:

If anyone is wondering yet it does directly bolt into a 2015 even though the kit only goes up to 2014. Anyway the kit was much nicer than I expected, very well built and fit perfectly. The filter itself looks good, the way they connect the filter to the factory intake tube could have been a little cleaner but whatever. There's still too much snow on the ground so I haven't been able to drive it and see if it did affect the sound or anything. Hopefully I can soon. Let me know what you think.
