I never did understand why they allowed Chrysler to use the 340 cubic inch engine in the Trans Am cars. Homologation rules have never been consistent in any of the race sanctioning bodies. NASCAR let Ford put their semi-Hemi in the Mustang instead of the Talladega or Cyclone. I never understood that either.
I believe they were “destroked ” to fit the 305 C.I. or less rule.

You are correct. However, the consumer versions of the Trans Am Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro both had 302 cubic inch engines from the factory. I have always wondered why the SCCA didn't require Chrysler to do the same.

What made you decide to purchase a T/A as opposed to some other package?
I've always liked the T/As. They were designed to handle. The 440s & Hemis could go fast in a straight line, but a Kenworth handled better. I found my 2018 by accident while looking for another car. I'd never driven a "new" Challenger, so we took it for a test drive. My wife fell in love with the throwback Houndstooth seats. This new T/A package was thought out very well. As I'm thinking about the things I would do to a Challenger to improve it, the T/A already had them. Give it a functional hood scoop, factory did that. Add the Hellcat lower intake box for headlight intake, factory did that. Unique suspension for enhanced handling, slightly lowered than stock, factory did that. Add massive brakes, factory did that. Blacked out hood, factory did that. Crappy tires with no grip, factory did that. Oops, scratch that one. Mine has every option available for a base T/A, sans the automatic. AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! The only changes I'm making to it are mostly cosmetic.

I'd been trying to come up with the perfect personalized plate for it, but nothing seem to fit. The I saw one of the recent 911 model in Wisconsin and it had the perfect plate. I stared at it, trying to figure it out, and then it hit me. I got this huge ear to ear grin. I now have ND0RFIN on mine.

NDORFIN, gotta like that, nice plate !!!
I like a well thought out plate !!!
My uncle owned a body shop and he had 3 kids but only one actually took hold of cars. He always drove the most bad ass cars of the day, also always had special paint too. 1st up 68 charger burned rubber down half our block. Then a 69 olds 442 duel snorkel hood. Always 4 speeds, paint on both cars were gold metallic.
His brother lived a block over from us, so I was headed over to my friends house riding my bike and there's this purple car, dropped my bike right there in the street and stood there staring at the T/A 340 six pak, hood scoop, the black on purple, 4 speed, chrome exhaust tips, jacked up. I slowly just walked around that car, just awestruck by it.
2018 it's wife and I time. Start the hunt for that just right combination challenger. Scats are plenty but that T/A !!
2017 is the first time Dodge started to water down the hellcat goodies into a scat pack challenger and a new trim package was born.
The bigger brakes, rotors are more slotted, the 392, A8, functional hood scoop with the hellcat air box, actual stitching in the door panels are unique and the "stripe". Dang what color to hunt for go mango, white knuckle, yellow and on a cloudy day at work I saw a Green Go sitting on a dealer corner lot. Called them up, offered up 500 to hold it till Saturday.
It was the one.

I soon developed an infinity for the Charger and the Barracuda but I actually didn't even see my first Challenger in real life until I was in college.
As a volunteer commander for the grammar police , I was going to point out that the correct word for this usage is affinity, until I considered that infinity better describes a lifelong commitment to Mopar and Muscle.

Well played, sir!

I drooled all over the magazine shots of the GG TA in 2017. Never thought I would own one but never say never. It aint a 392, not even a plus, but its a lifer for me.
IMO, a T/A is meant for a 345 like the old 340. Headers and a cam and I am over 500 HP.

I wasn't even intending to get a Challenger, but i figured i'm about to pay off my then-Chevy Malibu, why not see what numbers i could crunch. Of course being a fan of the 70's muscle car era even though i'm 32, i had to have a Challenger that was distinctive. I absolutely loathe the modern Charger as it's in no way iconic to its former years. I plan on chrome trimming it out and eventually a new cam. But for now, it's da*mn attractive as it is. My payments are high, and so is the fuel, but it's a smile each and every time.

Okay stop that. You don’t put chrome on a TA.

I had a 12 RT and it had lots of chrome and look great with it. But the TA in particular replaced all the chrome with matte black.

Welcome to the boards !!! Keep in mind today's modern muscle, chrome, you'll more then likely be doing vinyl wrap to achieve your goal. Exhaust can be done. But you picked a good stand out color and T/A trim package already for the "attitude" you been wanting to have !! Have fun cause it's highly enjoyable to drive !!!!

Was looking for a shaker to replace my 2013 sxt.. A listing had just came in for a car in Oshkosh and I inquired about it.
Sales lady was out that day and returned phone call on Monday. Had said car was a shaker so I had her send pics... um..nope not a shaker but a 2018 plum crazy 392 T/A.. Drove across the state and was picked up on that Saturday.. The dealer didn't even have time to slap a dealer sticker on the car.. Always liked the heritage of the T/A and AAR and now i have a beast of a car.

AAR was always my dream car. T/A was close enough for me as well. I also liked the Shaker but I choose the T/A.

Fully functional ram air hood. Wider wheels and tires...yup, that is all I needed to see in order to contact my dealer to order it.
