    Hey all

I plan on doing an upgrade to my factory Alpine 6 speaker system. I'll be using Focal separates 165AS3 front, and ISS 690 rear, and a pair of Polk Audio 10" woofers, powered by a Kicker KX800.5 amp, and a ZX400.1.

    Front speakers:

Focal 165AS3 3 way component kit.
Woofer: 6X9 ISS woofer ( Original used in the rear with the ISS 165 Tweeter and crossover )
Mid in the factory 3.5" location
    Tweeter TBD

    Rear speakers:

    Focal ISS 690

Amp: KX800.5 powering front and rear full range, and one Polk 10 @ 2 OHMS
    ZX400.1 powering a second Polk Audio 10 @ 2 OHMS

II have the amps, and a JBL MS8 processor. I also have an Audio Control LC81

I may just order the PAC Audio integration harness and go that route.

Pix when the speakers come in :D

PAC Audio AP4-CH43 is here. I found I can get the Alpine PDX F6 125RMS x 4, and PDX M12 for rather reasonable prices. It says, disconnect the radio. Is that the touchscreen, or is,there a remote tuner/Amp I need to look for?

I would definitely suggest spending the extra money and ordering the PAC module, when I started out with tapping the rear signal with a AUDIO CONTROL LC2, the signal was washed out and didn't sound full. The PAC module was a night and day difference, no signal noise in the speakers and it sounds like it has a aftermarket radio. Cant recommend it enough

My PAC module is waiting on me finding the location to install it. Is that behind the touchscreen, or at the amp?

I ordered the Alpine PDX-F6, and should have it next week some time. This payday, car payments. Next payday, Alpine PDX-M12, PXA-H800 and RUX-C800. I am going a different direction on the speakers after looking at the actual speakers in the Focals that I ordered. I am now looking at Hertz Mille component 3 way for the front, and coaxials for the rear.

I did pick up two Alpine SPS-10D2 subs and a dual 10 box. I'll have that in in the next couple days, weather and time permitting. When the M12 gets here, HOLD ON!

The factory amp is behind the dash on the drivers side and there's definitely enough to put the PAC module behind there as well, it plugs in behind the amplifier so everything interstates very nicely. I mounted the bass knob right next to the OBD port, drilled a hole on the downward facing pice of the plastic and it came out very nicely and looks factory! I'll take some pictures of my setup when within the next couple of days.

I talked to a couple friends in the install world. They want to do the install for me, nominal fee of course. It's worth it to me to have it done right, and have a warranty that backs the install. I'll get pic and post up the details ASAP. Ordering the digital adapter next payday, along with the rest of the wires and parts I need.

    Updates to come...

Any updates or progress made? I'm anxiously awaiting your presentation. I too am researching and deciding what direction to go. That premium HK I have sounded good for about two weeks. But I can't deal with the deficiencies in the sound anymore. I already have my choice of components and equip. but need a dsp as I will be using the factory HK head unit. I would also forgo the rear fill but I heard the reverse beep alert won't work without rear speakers. Anyway, good luck and I'm looking forward to hearing about your system.

We are having an issue getting the processor to be recognized by the laptop. I'm hoping to get by there today to see if a different USB cable might do the trick...

If it doesn't get sorted out I'm sure you've thought of using a Mosconi dsp or maybe Helix pro dsp? I don't have any experience with any of them so can't offer any advice, sorry. I hope that Audison starts working though so you don't have go through the hassle of changing dsp's. Good luck, can't wait to hear more about your progress.

Just a thought, something to think about. Are they differing USB versions? I believe USB3 is the norm now. I had some problems with controllers because of different USB versions. My powered hub is USB2 and my PC is USB3. Had to do a rain dance to get them working.
