Texas Instruments Car Show Benefiting United Ways

Was a good turn out. Not as many cars as they thought would show due to the weather forecast. Was quite hot today. I’m not new to car shows but this one kinda puts a bad taste in my mouth as far as etiquette. Myself you don’t touch another man’s wife and you don’t touch his car either🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe that’s just me. My girl was shiny beautiful but most had questions on what was that black thing sticking up from the engine. Is that an aftermarket cal induction or did you install an aftermarket decoy blower 🙄. I had to start it several times today and explain the “shaker”. This definitely wasn’t a challenger friendly show but that’s ok.. my girl still rocks!!
Only 2 challengers in the show and we were surrounded by mustangs. I told the other driver since we were parked at opposite ends, the challengers were corralling lil ponies!! Here’s some pictures.. t
Wheel Tire Car Vehicle Cloud
Wheel Car Tire Vehicle Hood
Two stood out most to me which were the 68-69 Camaro SS. Lots of beautiful muscle cars either way.

One guy I made friends with at the Plant City / Valrico Shows with a 1957 Chevy 210 , calls the Mustangs / Rustangs :)
Yeah they all had big attitudes today. Out of all the cars they seemed to be the ones all day that kept starting up their cars and reviving the engines.. lawn mowers!! I had to start a few times just to show what a shaker is!

Nice thanks for sharing... Hopefully tomorrow the Rain Holds out here for the Plant City Show.
Hope it does for you too! It held out here just long enough. I got a few drops on the way home, loved seeing the ceramic do it’s magic! By the time I got her in the garage and wiped down and covered, the bottom fell out here. Good luck tomorrow, you’ve got a beautiful amazing car!!

Glad to see your great photos James, but really was disappointed to hear that you encountered so many classless numbskulls. This was not the reward you deserved after working so hard cleaning and polishing up until the day of that show. It's also the reason I have only attended a total of 3 modern car shows...I like road trippin' and cruising with the wife much, much better.

Back when we had our show cars in the old days you'd get in some pretty deep crap for touching a guys pride and joy - car or gal. We'd go to 10-12 show or other similar events every summer and never had a worry other than getting a bad sunburn sitting in a lawn chair behind the back bumper all day.

People are just different in so many ways now...mostly with the 'no respect for others' attitudes. Like its the "keyboard warrior" thing going on in real life and in person sometimes. Give it another chance and keep attending shows...that car of yours is awesome and deserves to be seen. This was likely just the bad apple in the "apple basket" of shows!

Yes definitely gives you a bad taste. I think it was more of the type of drivers/owners. Seemed it was more of the European type cars, road rice racers that wanted to be hands on. I tried to not stay by my car and walk around looking but found myself watching from afar at my own car. Then seeing fresh finger prints and actually see several touch the rear window louver or the shaker.
I’m not much of a crowd person anyways. I’d love to take some of those amazing road trips you do!! You see some amazing places in your amazing car sir!! I envy you!!
Thank you for the compliments on my car. Definitely a love of detailing and pride goes with her. Supposed to be another one here in Caddo Mills on June 3rd at the local drag strip. If I can get off work, I might take your advice and try another one!

Geez...you sound like me - I'd rather stand back until the crowd thins out a bit and then check out a cars if I can with camera handy. People and cars go surprisingly well together at shows here around where my wife and I live. They're very respectful and I've noticed a few even lean closer to take look with hands behind them if you can believe that! Rural Midwest folks are the best people you'd ever meet.

Over the weekend we're going to the 21st – All Firebird & Trans Am Day at the Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum in Pontiac, IL. You definitely would enjoy that if you were closer. I've been a "closet" Pontiac Motors Corp. lover since my teenage years, so I know I will lol!

Most seemed to do like you said, hands behind their back leaning in, just a few bad apples in the bunch!
Have fun on your travels this weekend, be safe. Can’t wait to see your pictures!!!

Yes the majority of people are good, just few. I remember being at one show when a young mother was pushing her baby buggy between cars and put a big scratch on the side of one of the cars there.

Makes me cringe just reading that and I can hear that screeching sound of scratching!!

Nice pictures James! Totally agree with the touching, you really shouldn't have to tell them, they should have enough sense to know, but they don't.

Question, this first picture in post #4, what the heck is that car covered with, asphalt?

Is that a painted optical illusion, or a wrap, or is it what it looks like?

Never seen anything like that in any car show.

Your girls looking good, by the way! :) Ry

That’s one sexy el Camino! You car looks nice too 😉 Did you get to meet BA Baracus?
Yes, I’ve walked out of a building at a show to find 3 guys (all at least 20 years older than me) with their backs leaning on my 442. Almost lost my s*** on them. I said you gotta be effin kidding me. They all jumped away from it but for Gods sake, certain things you shouldn’t have to tell people

El Camino owner is a friend of mine and that car is sweet!!! Yeah A-Team Van!! Yeah you should know better than to touch anything at a car show. I made a few comments to several but most knew better. After finding prints for a third time on the fenders by the shaker, I didn’t leave her side anymore 😠

Good advice. I never leave my car(s) at a show unless one of my Son's are there to watch over them. And they won't let anyone within 5 feet of them! LOL! :ROFLMAO:

The pics were cool of those other muscle cars but yours was the best looking one there! I can’t believe people don’t know what a shaker Challenger is. You’re car is beautiful, you should stand proud next to her! It’s amazing how people have lost respect and common sense for just about everything. In my world you would never touch someone’s car, out of respect and plain old common sense. I’ve had people, mostly mid aged guys, come up and asked me if my car is a hemi. Nine out of ten times they have to reach out and touch my hood. The first couple I wasn’t prepared so they made the hood, now I’m ready and stop them before they’re paws get on her. She’s not a hemi, unfortunately, she’s an SXT but dammit I don’t get the fascination with touching a shiny car! I feel your frustration but keep going to those shows and “showing” off your beauty because she is beautiful!!!!!

Thank you for such a huge compliment on my girl!! I was surprised not to place at all but looking at my class.. domestic 🙄. Was full of mustangs and after all the continuous questions on the shaker, I knew this crowd was clueless on what a Challenger is or stands for!!
