    ^ Other guy's total time was lower and closer to the dial in time. One guy can run 12.50 with a .50 reaction time with a 12.50 dial in and lose to a guy that ran 12.80 with a .10 reaction time on a 12.50 dial in. Basically the first guy's total time was 13.00 vs the other guys' total time of 12.90. When you bracket race its not only about running close to your ET but also cutting a good light. I usually do good running close to my time but I suck at cutting good lights haha!

    As long as neither person goes guicker than the 12.50 dial in it comes down to who was closer with the et. and reaction time combined.So if you figure the difference in reaction time which was ..415 and then minus the total time difference which was .218 the other guy won by .197

    In Bracket racing, each driver determines their own dial in time. It can change from race to race throughout the day; you see how well your car performed the previous race, you gauge how weather changes during the course of the day may impact performance (this is the "DA" racers talk about - Density Altitude") and you make your best guesstimate.

    Experienced racers have their car "dialed in" knowing that (a) they as driver are consistent in how they perform; (b) their car is consistent in how it performs, so the two variables they take into account is weather and track conditions.

    In Index racing, it's the exact same thing, except whereas in Bracket racing a 12.6 car could face off against an 11.3 car, in Index racing you only race others who declare themselves to be in a specific class, or "Index"....9.5, 10.5, 11.5, 12.5, 13.5, etc.

    Reaction time. The other car was about .4 seconds faster off the line. Steeler made up over half of it, but the other car still crossed the line first.

    The other car did not cross the line first,he won because his total time was .197 quicker.
