Pulled up beside a silver, late model Challenger at a stoplight today. Had a SRT AND a Hellcat badge on the rear spoiler. That didn't seem right. Last week I saw a black SRT that had personalized plates that indicated it was a Hellcat. It had a Hellcat hood and only the SRT badge on the rear spoiler. Looked up the plate online and confirmed it was a 2015 Hellcat.
Anyway, back to the poser. Looked up front, and no Hellcat hood, but it did have a Hellcat badge on the front fender in the correct location. Then I looked at the wheels. It didn't have either rims or tires indicative of a SRT, let alone a Hellcat. But the dead giveaway was the brakes calipers. No Brembos. Not even painted brake covers or painted calipers. Just plain, bare metal calipers.
To the average driver, who doesn't know a Mustang from a Camaro, they won't know the difference. To any knowledgable Challenger driver, however, it was a poor imitation. To each his own, I guess.
