Been looking at several different polishers. The more I look the more I'm not sure what to get. There are three that I'm leaning towards Cyclo model 5 pro, Flex 3401 VRG, Porter Cable 7424XP. So which would be the best to invest in?:4-dontknow:

Jeff, I can only tell you that I love my Porter Cable and it's easy to use. You can take mine for a test drive if you want. I'll send it down with Hilda if you want.

As Dan and Rob say, I like the Porter Cable. I got mine in October and the first time use was easy, even for this old gal. Comes with a DVD to help you learn some tips for using.

They are all very good, I bought the porter cable because it had good reviews and the price was not bad. It is not something that you use that often so the higher priced units may be a little better for more frequent use but I am happy with mine.

Depending on your budget...

$100-$150: Porter Cable

$150-$250: Meguiars MT300

$300+: Rupes 21ES or 15ES

If you are just getting started in polishing, go for a polisher on the low end (Porter Cable). If you really get into it, you can always upgrade to another polisher and sell the PC on Craigslist.

No matter what you buy, make sure it's a Dual Action (DA) polisher, not a direct drive or rotary polisher.

After owning the Porter Cable unit and pretty much wearing it out after 6 years I wanted to try something a bit more powerful and that didn't bog down when using it to remove deeper scratches. I did not want to spend a whole bunch of money and after some research I went with the Griot's Garage 3rd generation 6 Inch Random Orbital Polisher. I used it a few times last fall after I got and it is FAR superior to the Porter Cable. Lighter, better balanced with an adjustable handle.

I have the Porter Cable and like it, been using it maybe 5 years. The first one you listed is dual head. Not sure if I'd like that or not, might be kind of big and akward.

I've got some Griots Garage products and have no doubt there buffer is good, it would probably be what I'd buy today if I was looking.

I detail my family's cars as well as some on the side. I own a porter cable and it's pretty decent for the price. On my radar is the flex 3401da. I've used it extensively and it blows the pc away. If you have the extra money go with the flex
