Had one of the 426s already so I guess its the 392 for me.Those old Hemis really had their own special appeal to them, much different than today's Hemis.
You would if you put #5 rod through the block and wiped out a head at the same time.If I had an old 426 I'm sure would have never gotten rid of it. They had a roar to then that was unforgettable.
They were definitely temperamental, no question about that. :att:You would if you put #5 rod through the block and wiped out a head at the same time.
You are right about the roar, even at idle they shook the ground, one thing lacking in todays muscle although the Hellcat sure has a good rumble. They were definitely temperamental, no question about that. :att:
I wish Mopar could bring back the old sound.:smileup:I would like the new with the sound of the old please.
My sentiments exactly.I would like the new with the sound of the old please.
Agree X100. I put on the blastin bobs straight pipes, so it has a nice growl, but i still want to shake the house. Maybe for my next project ill pick up an old dart demon and put a blown 426 in it. Right after I hit the lottery that is.I wish Mopar could bring back the old sound.
Back in the old days you always new when a 426 drove by, you didn't even had to look.Agree X100. I put on the blastin bobs straight pipes, so it has a nice growl, but i still want to shake the house. Maybe for my next project ill pick up an old dart demon and put a blown 426 in it. Right after I hit the lottery that is.
For anyone who races now its a no brainer on which engine is the better choice but back in the mid 60's the 426 was ahead of its time.Old school all the way!
But if there was a third option...BOTH...I would pick that one, love the new ones too!
