As I've posted before, I've had a 2 seater sport cars since 1979. Since 1975, I've had 11 Mopars, all from 63 to 69. I still have 4 of them at various stages of restoration (66 Valiant convertible, 66 Sport Fury 440, 68 Dodge Charger 383, and 68 Barracuda 360). My last sports car was the 2009 Nissan 370Z. A fun car as long as it was not snowing but it had the clutch slave cylinder problem Nissan wouldn't fix. They just changed the DOT, flushed and bled the line, and it worked for a couple more months (leak somewhere). The clutch went to the floor and left me stranded, towing it, and borrowing cars 3 times in 6 months. The warranty then expired. It costs $1300 to $1500 to fix because the plastic clutch slave cylinder is located inside the bell housing. So, the car ran great but was a ticking time bomb. I got sick of being stranded and waiting for this to happen a 4th time maybe out of state and I don't have that kind of money. So, I traded it on the 2010 black R/T 345 cubic inch hemi (yeah, I'm old school) loaded with 19K miles. Looks great, runs great. Got to get used to an automatic tranny and a car that does not quiet corner like the Z. But it is fun and so I have joined the club.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Yes, they did the warranty work on the MDS so it was good to go. Drives like a bat out of beep.

KingTuna. Great great choice. Not only did I yank the 318 poly from the 66 Sport Fury I gave to my younger brother, it went right in with no fuss. And, the front end sat up a little higher as if the 440 weighed less if you can believe that. The car I bought to replace it is a 66 Fury III we are turning into a Sport Fury. A friend so it to me and he replaced the poly with a 440 as well. It went in with few if any trouble. I'm not the mechanic (I like body work) but ask me any questions and I'll get them to him asap. Let me know how I can help. He also put a 323 sure grip in place of the 294 gears. The Fury III has a 78 "police interceptor" 440 from a motor home, yes, I know, but that is the story. I plan to change the cam purple shaft 484 lift, new lifters and springs, Edlebrock performer 440 intake and carb, TTI headers, and eventually aluminum heads. Should be a blast.

Congrats. Sorry to hear about your house divided.

Thank you and everyone who has made me feel so weclome here. My wife has calmed way down. The automatic, being able to go places as a family, have her coming on board now.

I bought the auto for one reason, it was there. Yep, that's it. I found one stick, a blue one with less than 10K miles but out of my budget. My Z payment was, are you ready for this, $614 a month. I traded a 2006 Pathfinder on a 2009 Z and was so upside down its a wonder I didnt' fall of the planet. So, I was still upside down in the Z but not nearly as much.

I am heading out to try and register it today. Body it takes so long to get the paper work.

Congrats on the new ride. If you get tired of the MDS system going on and off you can disable it by driving the car in auto-stick mode. Just hold the shifter to the right for a second and you are in semi-manual mode. The R and D on your instrument panel will then read 1,2,3,4,5 depending on what gear you are in. The car will downshift on its own and ignore unnecessary upshifts which is pretty cool.

Congrats! I'd like to think that your wife would be happy to not have you stranded somewhere with the other car! I love driving stick but I also like the automatic so my wife can drive it too, however, she's yet to get behind the wheel. A bit afraid I think. After punching it a few times with her in the passenger seat I think I understand why.

Well, you can just tell your wife that if 64 year old Momma Betty does the "punching the R/T a little too much sometimes," then she should absolutely not be afraid to drive it!!! It is a breeze!!

Thanks everyone.

Yes, you read my mind. I commute taking back roads to work to avoid traffic and the "buzz" sound of the MDS and it going on and off is kind of annoying so this trick will help. My wife has calmed down a lot. Her big issue was spending more money and taxes. Here, in Missouri, we have a "luxury" tax they call a personal property tax. Always due on December 31st based on the year/value of your vehicles. But this is actually the same or cheaper than the Z. She has calmed down about all of this so I'm good to go. Now I have to figure out how to change my personal info to say it is a 2010 pearl black RT.

I saw a vitamin C Challenger yesterday. It had no striping, no badges saying RT but had the dual exhaust. The area under the bumper, valance? was larger than my 2010 and it looked like a larger opening. Is this a stealth RT?

Again, great forum and I feel welcome here, thanks everyone.
