under the cover.
I thought about that but just trimmed it anyway. Sides with the shaker on there, you cant even see where i trimmed it at. But yours looks good. Nice and clean.
 
I did like post 23 and added a small cheap filter and ran under the cover and out the end.

Are the half covers snapping onto the original stud mounts for the full engine cover?
Yes they do but depending your exact engine will likely require rerouting some lines and maybe a bit of cutting. Not hard to do.

yes, just personal preference on aesthetics. I have (but not a good picture of) billet coil covers similar to those at Billet Technologies. I am also thinking about billet valve covers but my car is not with me right now (it's at OST Dyno).

 
I ask because I explored all the options of removing that awful 5.7 hood. 1) take if off and just leave it like it is. 2) modify and install the 392 1/2 covers, 3) there are a few companies that offer very angular chrome covers. 1) the engine looks too raw to me. 2) I consider this the best option, 3) these look too tricked up and not Hemi like. All the Billet stuff is nice and very expensive but they don't cover all the ness IMO.

See I don't mind the look of the naked engine. Prefer it to those "goofy" IMO "Angular Chrome Covers". If you like the modified "Half Covers", buy them and enjoy them. I am upset because our intakes are plastic and I think they should be aluminum and look nice, and no I am not going Edelbrock or 6.1l Intake conversion but, I would like to find someone that "shaves" the stock 5.7l intake manifold and paints them. My patience is garbage any more.

Some people have customized their 5.7L covers with mesh, custom paint jobs, etc. as well. Mopar used to, maybe they still do, make a cover for the 5.7L that is Hemi Orange too. There are a lot of options. There are even sheet metal covers that only cover the coil packs and valve covers.

I don't run the engine cover as well for heat reduction of the intake air temperature, I won't run half covers either I was just curious how they were secured. I prefer the look of the raw engine and once you get it clean it looks really good IMO, which is why we do the things we do to our cars in the first place, to us, it looks good, and that's all that matters. I've had the same thoughts regarding the plastic intake manifold but heat wise the aluminum holds heat in probably worse than the plastic, so Catch 22, looks is not everythng when it comes to the 5.7L HEMI. I did fully open up my 5.7L hood vents and that has made a noticeable difference with under hood heat, enough that I would venture to say better than the factory release.

Another reason I do not run mine, plus I am getting a 180 degree T-stat installed when my cam goes in the car.

You probably already know this: After driving a little, the 180 Tstat will have your coolant temperature between 185 ~ 188 degrees depending on how hot it is outside, it may even be a little higher than 188, because the thermostat itself actually opens at 180 but engine heat is already built up. Just because you install a 180 Tstat does not mean that's what your coolant temperature will be. Some have actually gone to the 160 Tstat but have not reported how that may affect Dodges engine temperature vs the catalytic converters functionality? So far I have not seen any problems or codes from the 180 Tstat.
