Search turns up dash cam posts from a ways back, wondering if anyone has bought and installed one recently.

model? hard wire or just lighter plug? front and rear? what you got?

I want to put one in the Challenger and my wifes 2014 Jeep GC. I've seen the vid by workplaydrive which was helpful but curious what other folks are using.

it is super clear. biggest pain in the rear was routing the wires for the rear camera. it is all in the box, no professional needed. weirdest thing is to keep from staring at the screen as you are driving. otherwise it is great in catching peoples expressions when you review the footage after you come back to the car. they will walk up to look at the car, hopefully not to steal it, and do a double take when they see the camera. also, the dealership really does clean my car now after seeing the camera. ahahahahahahahaaha

Mine is a Vava model VD-009.
Got it on Amazon for $169. Cheaper now if you get a used one. New ones may be cheaper too as I think they have a newer model out.
Front and rear(cabin) cams. Clear videos and has motion detection when sitting parked. It works well a d night vision is good. Put it in myself with included power cable plugged into car power in center console. Was easy to do and just hid cord under things above so it isn't dangling.

Con is the base that comes with it aren't tight enough and I have had them send me 2 others and same thing.
Camera goes crooked with road vibration but I just set it where I want it and put a bead of gel super glue around the swivel and it's fine.

I'm waiting for this one but I won't support any more Indiegogo funded projects. I'd rather just wait until it becomes a production item and get it off Amazon instead of paying upfront and waiting for product to be developed.

I’ve had Blackvue dr900s in my other vehicles. Hardwired with a switch you can cut on for parking mode. Haven’t installed in my challenger yet. Basically I used an always on powered source like a garage opener for one fuse, the other went to an accessory like a heated seat or steering wheel. Both were 5 amp in an add a fuse. Haven’t looked into what’s involved for the challenger as this is my first Dodge. Had these in my GM truck and Mustang

that would probably be my easiest option. I wouldn't want it inside the console personally. I want to avoid taking up space in there since storage is very limited in these cars (I've been driving trucks and SUVs for a long time, used to the storage)

On all my road vehicles I have dash cams front & rear. I also have the G-Force set to high. That way, if I get bumped in a parking lot, The camera turns on. It already happened. Showed the Insurance agent (and police) the chip footage, and they took care of it. Not a dime out of my pocket for the $1,200 repair.

I got one off Amazon called the REDTIGER 4K Dual Dash cam. I've been running it in my Durango for a few days now and it's amazing. It films in true 4K as long as you have a class 10 U3 Micro SD card, and the image quality still looks wonderful at night. I got it for about $100 as an Amazon warehouse return, but it normally runs about $140. I'd highly recommend it.
