402 Miles, should I drive it?

Just had my 2020 Scat Pack Challenger, 50th Anniversary delivered and now that I’ve had a whiff of the new car smell still in it, I no longer want to drive it. I want to give it to my son in 15 years with 450 miles on it.
Have I lost my mind?

Nobody gets mine. Prop me up in the driver's seat. Put my IV in the passenger seat. Brick the accelerator and let me launch into the crater of Mount St. Helens. Hemi-Vikingish funeral! Would be so awesome to time it with the next eruption of MSH, but I'll settle for what I can get!

Brof, I'll need you to YouTube the whole jump. And don't try to swap me out into a Camaro. I've seen Vanishing Point!

I have two daughters. One is pretty interested in stuff I do. She likes to ride dirtbikes and quads, likes to work on things, and she really loves my Nova and the Challenger. My other daughter could care less about any of the stuff in the garage. I don't think she's even really seen my latest motorcycle I bought after selling one of my dirtbikes. It's funny how kids can be so different coming from the same household, same parents, and same timeframe as well (born within two years of each other).

Same here, you heard the cliche' the apple dont fall far from the tree. In my sons case the apple fell in another world :ROFLMAO:
I tried, believe me I tried, I use to take him the the track (1320) ALL THE TIME in a baby seat and later in his jumper seat and he just isn't a Car Guy, what can you do.....
Love him to death but he'd try to plug my HellCat in a Ev charger knowing him :p

Unless you are wealthy enough to buy another one for day-to-day, yes. I mean, why did you buy it?

No doubt any Scat Pack will be somewhat collectible in the future, especially if it has low miles. I see the “unique and rare” thrown around a lot. People get a little hung up on it. There are so many unique and rare Challengers that makes very few of them so. My 2010 was missing the Hemi emblems from the hood. That makes my car the only 2010 RT Classic in black, automatic with a sun roof that didn’t come with hood emblems. (They were probably stolen or the dealer removed them.). That makes my car unique and rare. More desirable? No.

Also, late to the party, but as mentioned, you want to drive it. I ordered a new 1994 25th Anniversary and did the car show scene. My girlfriend (now wife) and I won many awards with it. I put it away with exactly 11,111 miles on it the last time I drove it. However, life got in the way and it was sitting in a non-climate controlled garage for about 11 years, so it needed a ton of work done. New battery, fuel system flushed, new fuel pump, fuel filter, oil change, air filter, new tires (balance and alignment), new master cylinder, brake fluid flushed and replaced, new fuel injectors, fuel injector pressure regulator, sway bar end links front and back, flush and replace transmission oil, new serpentine belt, drain and refill coolant system, new thermostat, new torque arm bushing, differential service (replace fluid gasket etc.), new air conditioner compressor. Power windows were working intermittently new regulators. I'm sure I'm forgetting a thing or two but you get the idea. I won't make the mistake of letting a car sit to long again.

WELL SAID…

That’s why we are ALL HERE; to teach and learn from one another. 😎👍🏾

I think that the majority of the special runs of cars that Dodge did will not be remembered or hold any special value over a Challenger without the package. But, I think that the 50th Anniversary cars will buck that trend. Especially the Gold Rush cars. It's a love it or hate it color, and who knows what people will think of it 20 years from now, but they are polarizing and that means a lot just by itself. When I think of a 50th Anniversary car, I always think of a Gold Rush car first, then the other colors. Maybe the word younger generations will use to describe them in the future is Iconic.

I don't put a lot of stock in 1 of XX configurations, but a plaque on the dash that says your car is a limited run of 1 out of 70 or so is pretty special.
