Doors unlock themselves

Wondering if anyone has any information on this, occasionally I'll come back to my car to find the doors unlocked. I am really anal about locking my doors, more so now that I've noticed this issue. I ALWAYS lock my doors but sometimes when I come back to my car, there they are unlocked.

One thing I noticed once was when I locked my doors I stopped to have a conversation with someone and I heard my doors unlock. I was about 5-10 feet away from the car but did not touch the car in any way. The times that I am finding my doors unlocked lately however is when I just lock and leave. Just thought I'd mention this though.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Are you sure your other key fob isn't in the car somewhere. If the fob is in the car it will not allow the doors to lock.

Whats in your pocket with your fob? That's what my issue is.. my phone usually is the culprit. I have found the trunk unlatched, even both windows down.. and one time, while washing it, I was squatting down washing the rocker panel and .. honk honk then it started.. So now I try to keep it in a pocket by itself and no more surprises.

I have a 2011 Challenger.

My other fob is in my house miles away.

I have no problems locking or unlocking my doors with the fob or the buttons in the car.

I have no issues with my windows or trunk ever opening or closing themselves.

About 99 percent of the time there is nothing else in my pocket with my keys that could accidentally push the unlock button while I'm walking away.

Basically, I get out of my car, push the lock button on my fob, look to see if the doors locked then walk to work/store/etc. Sometimes when I come back to my car the doors are unlocked. Maybe one out of every 10 times, I have stuff in my car I'd rather not have stolen too so it's very discouraging.

That is very disturbing to say the least. I guess the dealer would have to do some testing to try and find out what's going on.

I had the same problem, also came out one morning and the trunk was open. Dealer has a TSB for this problem. Since they fixed that problem now the passenger side window moves up and down slightly like when you open and then close the door and the window moves up a hair only now it's doing it while the door is closed.

When you go to the dealer - make sure you have the TSB number with you, just in case they are not familiar with it. That may sound strange, but more than once one of our members has walked into their dealership with info that the dealer did not know.

The moving of the window down a 1/4 when opening and back up whem closing the door is a normal function.

Another thing to check is the key FOB itself, I was having the same issue about a week after I had my car. Would come out in the morning to find windows down and doors unlocked, at first thought it was a problem with the car. Another member suggested on here to open the key fob and check out the contacts. When I did I found a small piece of the paint had flaked off and was rattling around in the FOB, every so often completing the circuit and making my doors and that unlock. To pry it open just removed the key part abit and twisted to pop it in two. Also, used alittle rubbing alchool to clean up the contacts which were pretty dirty.

My doors do this sometimes and now it will lock itself even if the key fob is in it! Then when I unlock it, it quickly locks itself (in a split second, lock goes up then back down). I unlock it again with the fob and get in. If I do not start the car before I shut the door, it will honk 3 times and then lock the door. If I start the car prior to shutting the door (door open when starting), no issues; the car starts normal and when I shut the door, it does not honk at me. This issues is intermittent.
