Labor cost for a CAM swap?

I'm looking at maybe swapping out the factory CAM for the MMX Camshaft that they say: "This camshaft is a true drop in, no tune required camshaft upgrade for your 5.7 VVT Hemi. This camshaft is designed for the HEMI owner who would like to do a cam swap and not have to go through the hassle of pulling the heads off, installing aftermarket valve springs, doing an mds delete, and buying a list of other supporting parts for the camshaft."

I have one bid for almost $2,000 to install it. Does this amount sound reasonable?

Thanks!

Well, you are gonna remove the front clip, drain rad fluid, remove rad support, remove intake to get access to the front of the engine and the valley to be able to hold the lifters. Then you can pull the water pump and the timing cover. Most of the time heads are removed because the lifters cannot be removed through the head, but I think that it is possible to hold the lifters up off the cam by supporting the "dog-bone" with some object. I believe that was done on a recent episode of Engine Masters.

Anyway, if your standard shop rate is $100 that's 20hrs to get the job done. I couldn't do it but I am just a monkey with Wal-mart tools, seems possible for a pro.

I am at a loss for how it works without a tune though, seems like the cam is not making much of a change if that is the case. But if the ECU can squirt enough gas for the increased volume of air then it should work!

time wise it will be easily 15 hr of labor ,plus coolant ,oil, gaskets and shop supplies(wipes ,rags and cleaner) most garages around me charge $110 + per hr.and then we got sales tax, mine cost around $2300 with springs ,lifters and tie bars and mds delete
