I have the MYgig 30 gig with Navi ect.. Do they make a rear view camera that will work with that system? I cant see anything while I am backing up and im terrified im gonna leave a grape stripe down someones car or something one day,,

I had one installed by a local guy, works great plus it unlocked the DVD/NAV so in drive those will function as well. I wouldn't go with a factory cam, they are a fisheye and too blurry. I'm not sure of the brand I have, but it came with an attractive chrome licence-plate holder and if you don't know what your looking at, you can't even tell its there.

Call me crazy, but I think this should've been a factory option for our cars. Hell, Camaros have backup sensors because their backup vision is even worse than ours!

A company in Florida makes Harness Assemblies and a back up camera for Chrysler MyGig Products. The unit will also let you program your GPS addresses while moving.

Coastal Electronic Technology

I am in the process of putting one of their systems in a Lincoln MKZ.

Coastal sells the cameras and lockpicks to enable the camera and nav functions. I installed a camera inside the rear spoiler of the car (i bought an take off SRT8 spoiler and drilled that one to use with the camera) The camera they normally sell for the front, i had to mount in the back, since they didn't have any more of the license plate frame camera in stock, and wouldn't have it for weeks. So i ordered the other camera they sell, and made it fit inside the spoiler, sticking its lens out like a keyhole. Works great for parking. Even works great for driving forward and using the rear camera all the time to eliminate blind spots. The higher location gives a broader field of view.

Here are a few shots of the spoiler, the first is the finished shot as soon as i got done installing the camera inside the spoiler. The next will be the underside shot, showing where i opened it up and could maneuver the camera into position before using two wood screws to tighten the camera in position where the lens rests inside the hole.

Image

You can see the close up below that the lens actually rests in the hole itself, and is actually more vertical than the spoiler is, the lens does not protrude outside the spoiler, so it can't be knocked around. and bumps don't seem to bother it any as it is secured to the bottom of the spoiler, and the camera rests in the hole. The hole is just big enough to allow the lens to poke thru, the camera has a wider section that will not fit thru the hole (it flares slightly behind the lens)

Image

The shot below shows the nasty part underneath, I cut one hole at first, but ended up cutting a second just like it to allow me to hold the camera in position while screwing it in place. I covered the holes themselves with double sided tape before reinstalling. The holes could be a little smaller, has to be big enough to work the camera in, plus the flanges it mounts with. The small hole in the middle, is where the screw actually goes in at a 45 degree angle, the screw was chosen that would just barely fit thru the mounting flange when screwed on, I think they were 1.25 or 1.5 inch drywall screws is what i used, but anything with coarse threads and the right size will work. There is a screw going in on each mounting flange, at a 45 degree angle, which maintains a better bite with the screws. The heads of the screws actually fit inside the depression in the spoiler itself where the middle plastic clip is mounted.

Here is a shot as it sits on the car. Now i just gotta get rid of the srt8 badge. The edge around the hole could be painted black, or sanded a little more to make the edge of the hole stand out less, I only had black finger nail polish available (raided the kids make up kits) at the time i put it together. I may touch it up more later. I was eager to get it on and see if it worked. scuse the blur on the left, the lense got dirty and hadn't wiped it off yet. I used a large drill bit to start with, then used a cone shaped grinding stone on an electric drill to widen the hole till it was just the right size. (hold the camera lens up next to the cone to see how deep you have to go to get clearance, but not so much the camera slides in too far, unless you want it to protrude a little. The object was to have a camera that looked like a trunk key hole. Think it worked out pretty well.

This is a picture of the camera that was installed. I got it at coastal's site. I did have to drill a hole in the trunk to run the wire, it already had 5 holes (2 spoiler screws and 3 clips) so one more didn't bother me much. The hole was only large enough to get the Y connector for the rca jack thru, Once inside the trunk i ran it along the factory harness inside the trunk lid, and under the side panels of the trunk area, so wire is hidden from view, and can't get caught on objects in trunk.

The most tricky part is knowing where to drill the hole, if you need me to measure it sometime just ask. Finding the center was easy, just wrapped masking tape over the center post/clip and around the spoiler, and the hole you drill is almost as wide as the 1/2 inch tape to start with, the cone grinding stone to widen the hole worked great. (do it in small steps, the stone can eat thru plastic quick if you lean into it)

Hi guys,

I just saw this thread and thought I would chime in.
I offer 10% off to any z forum member that places an order
directly with me. Our competitors products are not made here in the
us like ours. We have a million dollar smt line and our allgig for mygig
is made here in Boca Raton. We also offer technical support via telephone
m-f 9-6 est. I have the allgig for mygig radio to activate video and navigation entry while in motion, and our allgig will also activate the back up camera input as well. I have our allgig av cable to aide in adding the camera as well as it offers (1) audio/video input to add rear monitors/dvd and a video output. I do have our cam 4, full license plate camera as well as some others. Please ask me any questions. And don't forget we are supporting vendors
or 5 z forums. Thanks

Just emailed you about this. I am always about helping our local US of A companies out instead of out source.

There is a place nearby that I bought my new navigation MyGIG for $850 with uConnect microphone :) from that also sells the backup camera. I'll see if they have a price when I drop off some parts I need to bring back to them. Just in case anyone else wants to add it in. Also there are two options for the AllGIG, you can get that (of course I support it because they are a vendor here and help pay for the Z :) ) but the company I bought my radio from sells something called Lockpick that I'm sure some others have heard of that I think does the same stuff. I am going to ask the guy who runs the company near me about being a vendor on here for the MyGIG (all his sales are on eBay and ships worldwide).

Susanne can you tell us what it costs for back up camera and ability to unlock dvd.

#20 ·
Got the prices:
Lockpick (AllGig equivalent) - $225
Back-up Camera (License plate or the one like Lord Warlock used, your choice) - $90

You must have an unlock harness/tool because the cameras are not plug and play and the dealer can't enable them.

Hope that helps anyone looking to add one (or more) :D

Guys that sounds to me to be a reasonable price. Anyone know what the cost is from NAVTV for a rear camera and Nav unlock? If I read these posts correctly then all that is needed is a camera and an allgig...right? No other wiring harness? Thx for any info you can provide to ensure I get the correct parts for my 2011 SRT with 720 radio nav media. r, Lee
