Anyone else out there having the same issue as me? I have a 2019 Challenger with the new style swept rear spoiler. When it is cold out my trunk will not stay open. I have bumped my head on this more than once and when I looked up the part number in Amazon.com it says that the shock is for a trunk with NO spoiler!

If you are having this same issue let me know, if you are NOT having this issue please let me know and post a part number to your gas shocks that you are using.

The part number on mine are 04589645AB by a company called STABILUS

That is the same strut that is called for on my 16 scat, which has a spoiler although not the one you have.

Never replaced them on the R/T in almost 9 years. The originals are still on the Charger and it has the pedestal spoiler and is over 8 years old. I did replace the hood struts on the Charger a year or so ago with Sachs.

I have opened a case with FCA over this issue, just the other day I was taking a brand new car battery out of my trunk that I bought for my wife's car and as the trunk lid bumped my head I dropped the brand new battery on the pavement cracking!

I have the same issue on my 2016 SRT, the struts won't hold the trunk up when it's cold outside. I figured they were just worn.

Well I'm not gonna push it It was me the drop that so who's to say. I did call in and they had me email a copy of the receipt so not a big deal is only $35 for the shocks in case anybody is following this thread I got them on Amazon Strong arm 6657. The bottom knuckle rub slightly but I don't think it'll be a problem

My '10 R/T was always whacking me on the head whenever it was under about 30 degrees. The colder it got, the worse the struts held up the trunk lid. A little ice, or under 20 degrees and it wouldn't stay up at all. On my present car, I replaced them after the originals on it were even worse, I'm guessing because of the bigger spoiler. The replacements, supposedly stronger then stock, were not much better, six months later, I'm waiting for these, which ARE stronger than the originals and they have a 5 year warranty, so I'm hoping to end my head trauma (The last time put a ding into my old bald head). It's one of my few complaints about my present car.

Video, not me of course:

I also have a 2010 R/T. Has anyone tried to use these for the hood? What's the part number for that? I'm still using a prop rod.

Just ordered a pair of struts, from Lift Supports Depot.

Watch out about gas struts that are too strong! I put a set of super struts on the Jeep Liberty we had a few years ago. It has a rear glass that pops open like a trunk lid and the lower 'tail gate' opens like a door. Well anyway, when you grab the handle to open the tailgate door, the glass automatically pops up out of the way. I forgot to tell Katrina I put the new struts on and the glass flew up so fast and hard that it smacked her in the face. She was all black & blue and it looked like someone hit her with a baseball bat.
You cannot believe the questions people asked about what happened.

It was cold enough yesterday morning and the trunk lid had some snow on it, so with the old struts, I would have to stand there and hold up the lid until the struts "woke up" and held it up, at least 10 seconds. Under 20 degrees, they wouldn't hold it up at all. Now, it's like it should have always been, one finger under the lid and up it goes, and it stays up. Well worth the $40 bucks or so they cost, IMHO.
