I had the kid who saw my car right after the door was caved in catch me yesterday on his way to work and told me "Your car looks great!". He wants a Challenger very badly, but at 22, the insurance is just insane. He drives an old S10 that can't last much longer, it's got a ton of rot on it.

Back in 2009 I brought our 2009 Orange Challenger RT to a car show. Not many around back then. A little kid was gawking at it, and I said, "Sit inside if you wish." and he did. After which I said, "You better get out of there before the owner gets back and sees you." LOL.

I'm going to keep that trick in the back of my mind for just the right time...;)

Nice encounter last night coming home from a buddy’s house.
Crusin around 75-80 in the left lane when I noticed a pair of headlights making up ground behind me. I could tell it was an old car, thought it was a goat.
As it got closer, he pulls up next to me in the middle lane. Turns out it was a sweet 65/66 red Lemans with a white rag top. Rolls down the window gives me an extended thumbs up. I beeped a few times in return, then he continued on his merry way. (y)

Yesterday morning, I got home and my neighbor comes over and asked me what did they call the color of my car, and I said, "Torred", and he tells me his brother had a '66 Charger and he had a '69 Super bee, and then came all the questions. He had moved in just about the time it was involved in the wreck that messed up the left side, and he asked what body shop fixed it, etc, then he asked me about the engine, etc. And like all the old guys, he's regretting not buying his neighbor's '17 Scat Pack a couple of years ago. So many old guys with regrets...

Sadly, it's too late for a lot of them, they can't afford more than one car, or "The Boss" says no, etc.

Just now I'm sitting at a Starbucks in West Linn (Portland suburb) with my cat parked outside and within my sight, I see an elderly guy (yes, even more elderly than me. Think Art-elderly) :D checking out my car as he walked by it, looking in the windows and slowly shuffling by it.

He walks into Starbucks, buys his coffee, and as he leaves he looks around, and asks, Who owns the black Challenger? gesturing at it with his thumb. I'm ten feet away from him and I raise my index finger and jokingly say, That's mine. Is there anything wrong? The guy looks at me, deadpan expression, and says, Yeah, it's speeding while parked! :ROFLMAO:

That led to a nice, five-minute conversation with a fellow Mopar aficionado who once owned a 1972 Cuda.

Bet you made his day... 👍

Back on 10/6 I’ve had my Challenger 5 years. Took it in for its yearly state inspection, 6 month oil change and new tires all the way around even though the Pirelli’s that came on it only had 12k miles. They don’t last very long even though I really didn’t abuse them. After everything was done I decided to stop at Taco Bell. The order window is on the other side of the building. While waiting for my order the workers started asking me questions, like is that a Scat Pack, etc. I heard one lovely young lady say that’s going to be me when I can afford it. Nice to have a goal. As I was leaving and came around the other side of the building, every employee had come out to watch me leave. So I briefly lite up the brand new rear tires. 😁
