In the past I have worked on a number of my cars including brake bleeding, even engine rebuilds. The advice to not push the brake pedal all the way down was passed on to me by professional techs.

The times I did the bleed by working the pedal, well, having a helper work the pedal, I specifically asked she not push the pedal all the way down. I was not willing to use my car (or her car) master cylinder to disprove the advice I received.

Even if the brake master cylinder is aluminum there can still be dirt there that can damage the seals. I just see no reason to temp fate.
If you dont push the pedal ALL the way down then youll never bleed brakes. I doubt youve ever built an engine. The stuff you state in posts is so wrong. Like ive stated to you before, best if you know little to let guys who have experience post CORRECT ways to do stuff

I have rebuilt 2 engines. One in a Datsun 510 and the other in a Dodge D200 pickup truck.

And I have successfully bled brakes without pushing the pedal all the way to floor. (The only pedal that goes to the floor is the clutch pedal when bleeding a clutch hydraulic system.)

My posts are not wrong. Well, not often. But if I make a mistake I'll admit it. What my posts are more often than not is they offer advice or recommendations that fly in the face of some of the nonsense that is passed off as gospel.

For the original poster, the pedal will firm back up. The soft pedal has to do with the ABS control system. It takes a little time to get the air out of it. And it is that way on all new dodge vehicles unless you have a device to plug in and have the computer bleed it for you.

I have been doing brakes since high school I am 66 now, that means drum brakes ,rebuilding master cyl., wheel cyl., the works.
This is what was found on the 04 Chevy deully , keep in mind I was not at the truck & involved in parts install. First off if a caliper comes with a bracket & it doesn't fit, stop. But my nephew did not stop, managed to use the trucks original bracket , this will not work on a normal brake job because the calipers are so much different in size. But on the deully it did, what autozone had sold him was not only the wrong side of caliper but a front one to at that. This put the bleeder screw on the bottom of caliper instead of top where all the air is, no way this system would ever bleed.
